Fodder beans are one of the oldest crops in the world, whose seeds contain 25-35% protein, up to 54% carbohydrates, 1.5% fat, about 3.5% minerals, vitamins A, B and others, and are a highly nutritious concentrated feed (100 kg contains 129 k.u. and 28.4 kg of digestible protein). Also, the green mass of beans is quite rich in protein, with more than 130 kg of digestible protein per feed unit (100 kg - 16 k.u.), which makes it possible to use beans as an important component of corn silage.
Bean flour can be mixed with wheat and rye flour when kneading bread dough, which increases its nutritional value. Toasted, ground beans are added to coffee. Beans are an indispensable part of the vegetarian menu.
