Coriander is a cultivated annual herbaceous spicy-aromatic plant of the umbelliferae family. 

Coriander fruits contain essential oil, terpenes, ascorbic acid, fellandrene and pinene, fatty oils, and pectins. One of the main active ingredients of coriander fruit is essential oil. It contains cymene, borneol, linalool, and their esters, which is why it is actively used as a medicinal herbal product that is part of various drugs used in medicine and cosmetology.

Coriander is a global spice, respected in the cuisines of different countries on all continents. Some peoples prefer greens (cilantro) as a seasoning, others prefer fruits, but both spices are equally healthy and delicious in their own way. Ground coriander is used to flavor dishes: it is added to marinades for preservation, and is also used as an additive in the confectionery industry for baking bread and confectionery, for making candies and marmalade, syrups and fruit mousses.

The essential oil obtained from coriander fruit is used in the perfumery industry and for the production of liqueurs, gin, and some beers.
